James Brown (sailor)


Quartermaster James Brown was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Brown received the countrys highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his action aboard the USS160Albatross at Fort DeRussy onMay 1863. He was honored with the award onApril 1864.

Brown was born in Rochester, New York in 1826. He enlisted into the United States Navy.
